Privacy

We use Google Analytics to see how people find this site and which pages they actually read. That is the whole of it.

No mailing list. No adverts. No profile of you. If you hit Reject, we collect nothing.

This page exists because the law requires it. We have tried to make it readable.

Who we are

BRAW.software. A one-developer software studio on the Moray coast, North East Scotland.

We are the data controller for this website. Email us at hello@braw.software.

What we collect

Only what Google Analytics 4 collects by default, and only if you accepted analytics cookies. That is: the pages you viewed, how long you stayed, roughly where in the world you are, your device and browser, and how you got here.

We have not added anything on top. Google Signals is off. Advertising features are off. User ID tracking is off. We have not sent Google a single thing about you that it would not record on any other site running the same free tool.

We never see you as a person. We see counts.

The legal basis is your consent. That is why you were asked.

What we do not collect

There is no contact form on this site, so there is nothing to submit. Our email address is a link. If you write to us, we have your email because you chose to send it.

No newsletter. No advertising. No remarketing. No cross-site tracking. Nothing sold to anyone, ever. No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.

The bit most cookie pages skip

Google's tag loads on the page before you choose. With consent switched off it cannot store a cookie or work out who you are, but it does make a request to Google, and every request on the internet carries your IP address.

We would rather tell you that than let you find out. If it bothers you, any content blocker will stop it, and we will not hold it against you.

Cookies

Nothing analytics-related is stored until you accept.

Cookie What it does How long
_ga Tells a return visit apart from a new one 2 years
_ga_KW33JZKZB6 Keeps a single visit together as one session 2 years
cc_cookie Remembers your cookie choice 6 months

cc_cookie is the only one we set without asking, and it is set whichever way you answered. It exists so that a no stays a no and we stop bothering you.

Changing your mind

There is a Cookies link in the footer of every page. Open it, switch analytics off, and we delete the Google cookies immediately. No form, no email, no waiting.

Where the data goes

To Google, who process it on our behalf. Google is a US company, so it leaves the UK. That transfer runs under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, which is the approved route.

Google deletes the event data after 2 months and the user-level data after 14 months.

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, to deliver the site and to block attacks. That happens on every request and is not something you can switch off, which is exactly why it is worth saying out loud.

Fonts

Our fonts come from Bunny Fonts rather than Google Fonts. Bunny does not log requests and does not track anyone. We chose it for that reason.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to us using it, and withdraw your consent at any time.

In practice there is rarely anything to hand over, because we do not collect anything that identifies you. Ask anyway if you want to. hello@braw.software.

If you think we have got this wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. You do not need to speak to us first.

Changes

If what we do here changes, we will ask for your cookie choice again rather than quietly updating this page.
